Castles of Burgundy vs Card Game : boardgames

The card game certainly is shorter and simpler, but it removes what I consider to be the best part of Castles - chaining bunches of actions together. Turns are much shorter, which you may appreciate. Scoring is much simpler and scaled down, too, which I find to be not as interesting as the original.

Awesome card game for two players. Depends what the wife likes about it and what you like about card games. The card game certainly is shorter and simpler, but it removes what I consider to be the best part of Castles - chaining bunches of actions together. Trying to tell someone about The Castles of Burgundy: The Card Game makes the game sound dull. I just read over my first paragraph and thought, "This game sounds so freaking boring." [WSIG] Castles of Burgundy vs Carcassonne : boardgames

Carcassonne is a light tile laying game that is a really good intro game into the hobby. There is some conflict in the game but not much but there is still plenty of strategy to go around. I think everyone should have it in their collection. Castles of Burgundy is in my top 5 favorite games of all time.

As soon as it arrived I attempted my first game organization for the The Castles of Burgundy: The Card Game. The Status Quo This game has only one type of component: Meeples. Just kidding. It's all cards. With the stock insert, you are forced to put the cards into three stacks. When we inevitably store it vertically, two of the decks mix together.

Castles of Burgundy Review - Board Game Resource

As far as designer board games go, Castles of Burgundy is on the cheap side. At MSRP, it typically retails for $40, and can be found online from $20-25. At this price, the game is an absolute steal. Short of card games, it’s rare to find a good board game priced this low. At MSRP, I would also assert that the game is still worth it.

I've definitely had 5 player games of this go for 5 hours, 4 player games take 2-3 and had a 2 player game last 45 minutes. It all depends on player experience and susceptibility to AP. Through the Ages is Sid Meier's Civilization (the computer game not the board game) as a card game. And are there a lot of cards.

Why it's on My Shelf | The Castles of Burgundy: The Card Game ...

Great write up, I have similar feelings. I haven't played Castles of Burgundy the full game, but the card game is a great quick crunchy game to pull out at the end of an evening, as opener while waiting for others, after the kids go to bed or take with you on a road trip/vacation. It's great puzzle that works so well for the price and size.

Thoughts on Castles of Burgundy: The Card Game? : boardgames

I had purchased the card game as a cheaper, more portable version of the full Castles of Burgundy (did not know it'd take up just as much table space), and it's a clever spin-off, but it just didn't scratch that CoB itch for me. The full game went on sale recently, amd I did not hesitate to jump on it.

Troyes vs Castles of Burgundy : boardgames

Troyes is on BGA, Castles of Burgundy is on Yucata. I dont have too much experience with Troyes at 2, I've played it maybe twice, but I think CoB at 2 is great. The main criticism someone will make is that not all tiles come out on a 2p game vs a 4p game and this perhaps means you have to be even more tactical in your strategy.
